Uvita wedding venues and the Osa Coast.A PHOTOGRAPHER’S GUIDE · COSTA RICA
UVITA WEDDING VENUES · QUICK ANSWER
Quick answer: Of the three Uvita wedding venues in this guide, Kura Boutique Hotel and Rancho Pacifico publish wedding pages. Both are adults-only boutique hotels in the hills above Uvita and offer whole-property bookings for small weddings and elopements. Vista Celestial, their neighbor, has ocean-view villas but does not publish a wedding page. All three have steep roads that need a 4×4, and the nearest airport is Quepos, about an hour away.
Costa Rica’s South Pacific, around Uvita, Dominical and the Osa Peninsula, is the country’s wild coast: rainforest tumbling toward the sea, humpback whales offshore, and hillside hotels with ocean views. It suits couples who want something adventurous and private. Below is what each venue publishes about itself, how to get there, and how the light and seasons work here. Capacity, vendor rules and availability change, so always confirm details with the venue.
Uvita wedding venues and the Osa Coast at a glance
| Venue | Setting | What the venue publishes for weddings | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kura Boutique Hotel | Adults-only boutique hotel on a ridge about 1,100 ft above the Pacific; 8 suites | Whole-resort booking or a stay for two | Last stretch rugged and 4×4 only; or park in Uvita for a 15-minute transfer |
| Rancho Pacifico | Adults-only boutique resort at about 2,000 ft (600 m); treehouses, villas and suites | Whole-property booking or a single room; ceremony in its gardens or at an off-site natural venue | Last 1.5 miles steep gravel; 4×4 required |
| Vista Celestial | Boutique hotel with ocean-view villas on a 50-acre rainforest reserve | No wedding page published; ask the hotel | Access road requires 4×4 |
Kura Boutique Hotel
Kura sits on a ridge above Uvita town and Marino Ballena National Park, about a 15-minute drive from the main road in Uvita de Osa. The adults-only hotel has 8 suites, four of them with private pools, about 1,100 feet above the Pacific. Its pool has 180-degree views of the ocean and the Whale’s Tail, and the hotel promotes it for sunsets, with jungle to the east.
The wedding page offers whole-resort booking or a stay for two. It does not publish ceremony spaces, guest capacity or catering and vendor rules, so ask before you plan around a specific setup. The last stretch of road is rugged and 4×4 only; guests can park in Uvita for a 15-minute transfer, and there is a helipad five minutes away.
Ask before you book: ceremony spaces, guest capacity, and catering and vendor rules. None are published, so get them in writing.
Rancho Pacifico
Rancho Pacifico is an adults-only boutique resort at about 2,000 feet (600 meters) in the hills above Uvita, with treehouses, villas and modern suites and views of the ocean. Its destination wedding page offers whole-property bookings or a single room for elopements and small weddings, with the ceremony in its gardens or at an off-site natural venue on the southern Pacific coast.
The resort says its team can arrange a photographer, flowers and witnesses; if you want to bring your own team, ask about its vendor policy before you book. It does not publish a guest capacity, and its policies say drone flight is not permitted, with no wedding exception published. The restaurant overlooks the Whale’s Tail, and the last mile and a half of road is steep gravel that requires 4×4.
Ask before you book: the vendor policy if you want to bring your own team, the guest capacity for your date, and drones, which the published policy does not allow.
Vista Celestial
Vista Celestial is a boutique hotel with ocean-view villas on a 50-acre rainforest reserve, about 2 kilometers northeast of the Uvita waterfall and next door to Rancho Pacifico, which its website lists as a sister hotel. The villas are about 1,000 square feet, sleep up to four guests each and have views of the Whale’s Tail, and the sun deck is promoted for Pacific sunsets.
The hotel does not publish a wedding offering, so if you are considering it, ask whether it hosts ceremonies or receptions. It may also work well as lodging for wedding guests. The road needs a 4×4.
Ask before you book: whether the hotel hosts ceremonies or receptions at all, and whether the villas can be reserved together for your guests.
Getting to Uvita,
two ways.
Uvita is roughly 3.5 to 4 hours by road from San José airport (SJO). All three hotels point guests who want to save time to Quepos airport (XQP).

Both routes end with a steep 4×4 stretch to the hotel.

Ask early, confirm in writing.
Practical notes drawn from what each hotel publishes and what it leaves out.
Decide between the whole property and one room.
Kura and Rancho Pacifico both describe whole-property bookings. Rancho Pacifico also offers a single room for elopements and small weddings.
Ask for what is not published.
Kura does not publish ceremony spaces, guest capacity or catering and vendor rules, and Rancho Pacifico publishes no guest capacity. Get the answers in writing.
Plan transfers before you invite guests.
The roads to all three hotels are steep and need a 4×4, so ask each hotel how guests will arrive.
Settle the drone question early.
Rancho Pacifico’s policies say drone flight is not permitted and publish no wedding exception. Kura and Vista Celestial publish no drone policy, so ask before you plan aerial footage.
Put the sunset in the plan.
Kura promotes its pool for sunsets, and at Rancho Pacifico only the Treehouse Tucan is described as west-facing. Ask which space faces the horizon you want.
Light, seasons and the Whale’s Tail
The South Pacific’s dry season runs December to April and the green season May to November, so afternoon rain is common outside the dry months and worth a rain plan. In the dry season we suggest planning the ceremony so portraits fall in the last hour of light.
| When | Sunset |
|---|---|
| November and December | About 5:10 PM |
| January | Around 5:30 PM |
| February to April | About 5:45 PM |
| June and July | Close to 6:00 PM |
Marino Ballena National Park protects the Whale’s Tail, a rocky and sandy formation reachable only at low tide. According to the park authority, its tail shape is visible only from high ground or from the air, so the hillside views above Uvita are a good way to see it. Humpback whales visit in two seasons, roughly July to October and December to April, with the exact months varying by source.
Uvita & the Osa Coast wedding venue FAQ
Short answers to the questions couples ask about this stretch of coast.
Which Uvita wedding venues publish wedding pages?
Kura Boutique Hotel and Rancho Pacifico both publish wedding pages and offer whole-property bookings for small weddings and elopements. Vista Celestial, next door to Rancho Pacifico, has ocean-view villas but does not publish a wedding page, so ask whether it hosts events.
Is Uvita good for an adventurous wedding?
Yes. The South Pacific around Uvita, Dominical and the Osa Peninsula is known for dramatic jungle-meets-ocean scenery, including Marino Ballena National Park and its Whale’s Tail, which draws couples who want something wilder and more private.
How do guests get to Uvita?
Uvita is roughly 3.5 to 4 hours by road from San José airport (SJO). All three hotels point guests who want to save time to Quepos airport (XQP): about a 20-minute flight on Sansa or Green Airways, then roughly an hour by road. The last stretch to each hotel is steep and needs a 4×4.
Can we fly a drone at an Uvita wedding?
Rancho Pacifico’s policies say drone flight is not permitted, and it publishes no wedding exception. Kura and Vista Celestial do not publish a drone policy, so ask before you plan aerial footage.
Which season is more reliable for a wedding in Uvita or on the Osa Peninsula?
The dry season, December through April, is the more reliable stretch. This is one of the greener, wetter regions of Costa Rica, so afternoon rain is common in the green season (May to November) and worth planning the timeline around.
